Grace Galligan

Teaching Uilleann Pipes (T-W-Th)

Grace Galligan is a performer and teacher of the Uilleann pipes, tin whistle and flute. Born in Dun Laoghaire. She is currently studying in the Irish World Academy of Music and Dance, University of Limerick, on the course for Master of Arts in Irish Traditional Music Performance. Her primary instrument is the uilleann pipes and second instrument is the piano.

She has enjoyed success in the All Ireland Fleadh in Uilleann pipes and Sean Nós singing, in particular, and has had many opportunities for public performance on uillean pipes, harp, flute, tin whistle and singing. She has also qualified for the All Ireland in whistle and harp slow airs. She comes from a musical family. Her brothers and sisters all play a number of traditional musical instruments.

Grace grew up playing whistle from the age of 5 and competed in her First All Ireland in a Grúpa Cheoil competition when she just turned 6 years of age. She has been fortunate enough to have had the best of teachers at the Culturlann in Monkstown in Comhaltas.
