Formerly director of operations for the Irish American Cultural Institute (1988 –1995), James Silas Rogers has a BA in Irish Studies and public relations management from Metropolitan State University, and an MA in English from the University of St. Thomas. He has published widely on Irish-American literature in such journals as the Canadian Journal of Irish Studies; U.S. Catholic Historian; Studies: An Irish Quarterly; and the Irish Literary Supplement. With Matthew J. O’Brien, he co-edited After the Flood: Irish America, 1945-1960 (Irish Academic Press, 2009), and he edited and introduced Extended Family: Essays on Being Irish American from New Hibernia Review (Dufour Editions, 2013). His essay collection Northern Orchards: Places Near the Dead (2014) was a finalist for the Minnesota Book Award. A long-time officer of the American Conference for Irish Studies, Rogers served as president of the organization in 2010 and 2011. Rogers' monograph Irish-American Autobiography: The Divided Hearts of Athletes, Priests, Pilgrims, and More was published by the Catholic University of America Press in 2016.
