Teaching M04: Bodhrán, Beginning (Irish Frame Drum)
Amy Richter, a two-time Midwest Fleadh Cheoil champion on the bodhrán, has been performing Irish music since 2003 and teaching since 2007. Amy just recently returned from her second U.S. National Tour with the highly celebrated trad band, Danú, one of the leading traditional Irish ensembles of today. And she's featured on several tracks of their newly released album, Ten Thousand Miles. Amy is also a founding member of áthas, a Milwaukee based band proud to be bringing joy and happiness to all their fans for the past 13 years.
A highly sought after instructor, Amy has been teaching bodhrán at the Irish Fest School of Music since 2007 and the Milwaukee Irish Fest Summer School since 2008. She's also taught for the Junior Davey Bodhrán Academy in Ireland, The Irish Music School of Chicago, and The Wisconsin Conservatory of Music.
Amy is a graduate of the University of Wisconsin - Milwaukee with a Certificate in Celtic Studies. She also studied abroad at the University of Limerick under the direction of Dr.'s Niall Keegan and Sandra Joyce, directors of the Irish World Academy of Music and Dance.
