Fr. Michael Maher, S.J.
Teaching C03: Image and Imagination: The portrayal of the Irish in 19th and 20th century popular press
Fr. Michael Maher, S.J. is teaches history at Marquette University. In addition to his doctorate in History, he has two Masters degrees in Theology and an undergraduate degree in Philosophy. A specialist in Jesuit history, his recent interest has been the Catholic response to eugenics and racism in the late 19th century. He is from Milwaukee and he and his family have been a part of the Irish fest community from its beginning. Perhaps Fr. Maher is best known to those attend the Sunday Mass at Irish fest as the “traffic control director.”
