Teaching C03: Steps in Time: Irish Dancing and Irish America (T-W-Th)

Samantha Jones is an ethnomusicologist, musician, and dancer. She received her PhD from Harvard University in ethnomusicology, where she wrote her dissertation on musicality in Irish dancing. Her current book project examines the role that musical thinking plays in choreographic learning, memory, and social encounter, focusing specifically on diasporic communities of Irish dancers in the United States. Samantha currently lectures at MIT and Northeastern University and is active as a performer and teacher of Irish dance in the Boston area. She serves on the Advisory Committee of the Ward Irish Music Archives.
