TS05: Sampler Beginning Sean-nos Dance with Danielle EnblomInstructor: Danielle Enblom - Read full bio
Start Date: Thu, August 19, 2021 Start Time: 03:00 PMEnd Date: Thu, August 19, 2021 End Time: 04:00 PMDescription: Sean-Nós and Old Style Step Dance
Learn to improvise to Irish tunes, and add rhythmic accompaniment with your feet! Sean-nós is a term meaning “old style” in Irish, and refers specifically to the free and improvisational style of dance from the west of Ireland. While this class will focus on improvising with a few basic moves relating to the Connemara and Clare Battering steps, there are old regional styles of dance throughout Ireland, many of which have a relationship to traditional dance forms in North America. So Danielle will ensure beginner dancers leave dancing the Connemara step, and more advanced dancers will have the opportunity to dig into tunes and their structures, and also get to try steps similar to the old Irish steps from various regions in North America.
You will also be able to learn in person from Danielle during the Irish Fest Weekend in the Gaeltacht Tent.
Students will get access to this class as part of the $25 registration fee for ALL Thursday Sampler classes.
